Four U.S. synchronized skating teams will compete at the final stop of the ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating Feb. 17-19 in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy.
For the two senior and two junior teams, the Spring Cup will be their second Challenger Series event this season.
Miami University and the
Skyliners will represent the United States in the senior division while
Teams Elite junior and the
Lexettes will take the ice for Team USA in the junior division. This competition marks the final event before the 2023 World Junior Synchronized Skating Team is selected.
The 2022 U.S. bronze medalists, the
Skyliners have their sights set on their third straight Challenger Series medal after earning bronze at Neuchatel Trophy – the first Challenger Series event of the season – and securing silver last season at French Cup.
Hoping to bring home their first-ever Challenger Series medal,
Miami University – a 2022 World Team member – took fifth at its first Challenger Series event this season at Mozart Cup.
Competing in the junior event,
Teams Elite junior has collected the most Challenger Series medals of any U.S. junior team. The 2022 World Junior bronze medalists will go for their fifth straight podium finish at the Challenger Series after claiming silver at Neuchatel Trophy in January.
The
Lexettes kicked off their international season at Mozart Cup, finishing just off the podium in fourth.
The competition begins Saturday, Feb. 18 with the junior and senior short programs and concludes Sunday, Feb. 19 with the junior and senior free skates.
The Challenger Series, which began in 2019-20, consists of up to five international competitions linked together to give adequate opportunities for teams to compete at the international level, earn World Standing Points and prepare for competing at the ISU Championships.
