Skyliners junior are on the podium at the Junior World Championships once again.
The team from Fairfield, Connecticut, clinched bronze at the ISU Synchronized Skating Junior World Championships 2026 on Saturday in Gdansk, Poland, their seventh total Junior World Championships medal.
Skyliners junior have now stood on the podium at the Junior World Championships every year they've attended this event since 2018 (they withdrew in 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the event was canceled in 2021). They also continued their medal streak this season, standing on the podium at every competition they skated at.
The reigning U.S. silver medalists scored 200.40 points in total, edging out Les Supremes of Canada by less than a point.
"I think we felt really determined throughout the whole skate," Stephanie Sze from
Skyliners junior said. "It was a fight throughout it all, and we kept going. We kept the resilience and the momentum, and I think that's what pulled through."
Performing to a
Carmen theme,
Skyliners junior started out strong with a Level 4 move element that generated 9.60 points and a Level 4 intersection with a Level 4 point of intersection that tallied 10.07 points, their highest-scoring element and the third-highest element of any team during the free skate.
Although they faltered late in the performance with two falls,
Skyliners junior finished strong with a Level 4 synchronized spin and held on for the podium. They totaled 122.82 points in the free skate.
"I think we were really happy with our spin element,"
Skyliners junior skater Mia Johmann said. "We worked really hard on that throughout the season, and we did change it right before nationals and Worlds. We're really happy we executed it tonight."
Teams Elite junior also represented the United States in Poland, finishing in fifth place.
The 2025 Junior World champions that have won three straight U.S. junior titles collected 193.12 points, including 120.75 in the free skate.
They earned Level 4s on four elements for their skate to music from
Carmen but had one fall on both their synchronized spin and second intersection.
"Since we did not have the skate we were hoping for, we are obviously disappointed and upset," Maddie Ortiz from
Teams Elite junior said. "Despite this feeling, we have zero regrets from this season and would not change a single thing about our preparation; we did everything we could have. We are still so proud of the season we've had."
