OUR ORGANIZATION

 

U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States. Founded in 1921, the association is charged with the development of the sport on all levels within the United States, including athletes, officials, sanctioning of events and exhibitions, and establishing the rules and guidelines by which the sport is governed.

TED STEVENS ACT

U.S. Figure Skating is the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of figure skating in the United States, consistent with the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act, the Bylaws of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee and the International Skating Union.

U.S. FIGURE SKATING HALL OF FAME

In April 2018, U.S. Figure Skating announced two major media rights agreements that guarantee unprecedented coverage of figure skating in the United States through the 2026 season.

WORLD FIGURE SKATING HALL OF FAME

U.S. Figure Skating is home to the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame which was established in 1976 to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of figure skating around the world. Nominees may be inducted for accomplishments as competitors, coaches or for other significant contributions. To be considered, a competitive nominee must be retired from eligible skating for at least five seasons. Nominations for the World Hall of Fame are accepted from members of the skating community and the general public. After nominations are received, formal ballots are circulated to international electors who make the final selection
