VOLUNTEER AT AN EVENT
For those looking to directly support our events, volunteering has a various number of opportunities for you. Roles can include accreditation/registration desk support, ice monitor, or even supporting the U.S. Figure Skating merchandise booth at a major competition. Both U.S. Figure Skating and local clubs are constantly on the lookout for willing volunteers to help administer events. Those wishing to explore volunteer opportunities should create a free volunteer account on the U.S. Figure Skating Event Management System. The U.S. Figure Skating events department can be emailed for more information.

Outside of events, local clubs are often in search of volunteer support to help ensure smooth operation and ongoing support for their members. OFFER SUPPORT AS A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
National Team Medical Team
U.S. Figure Skating selects Physicians (MD, DO), Athletic Trainers (AT) and Physical Therapists (PT) to provide healthcare services and support National Team delegations during international competitions.
The international medical team volunteers must demonstrate a strong clinical background in sports medicine, the ability to provide care for athletes with injuries and illnesses in high-stress situations and support anti-doping regulations. Providers must be comfortable working in a team environment, traveling internationally, caring for athletes of all ages and levels and working for extended periods of time in an ice rink environment.
To be eligible for consideration:
- Physicians (MD, DO) must be board-certified in their primary specialty and either/or:
- Completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship
- Completed a Certificate of additional qualification (CAQ)
- Physical therapists (PT) must be a board-certified clinical specialist in sports physical therapy and either/or:
- Dual credentialed as a BOC Athletic Trainer
- Completed an acute injury and illness management course and professional experience in a sports setting, including competition coverage
- ALL providers (MD, DO, AT, PT) must have at least 3 years of professional experience (post-certification/state practice licensure).
Preferences:
- Documented competence in acute injury/illness response and management
- Documented competence in manual therapy techniques
- Documented experience with figure skating event medical coverage at the local/regional level
- Documented completion of a USOPC Sports Medicine Volunteer Rotation
If invited and selected to serve as a National Team Medical Team Volunteer, providers must complete and/or provide the following prior to traveling to the competition:
- SafeSportTM training certification
- U.S. Figure Skating background check (paid for by U.S. Figure Skating)
- Anti-doping course certification (HealthPro Advantage)
- Professional license and credential verification
- Obtain and maintain U.S. Figure Skating membership
- A valid passport
