Seven U.S. Teams to Compete on Home Soil at Third Challenger Series Event

World medalists Haydenettes, Teams Elite junior headline U.S. lineup on home ice

The nation's top senior and junior synchronized skating teams will return home to the United States to compete at the 2026 U.S. Synchronized Skating International Classic, the third 2026 ISU Challenger Series Synchronized Skating event of the season.

Set to take place Jan. 30-31 at The Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, Massachusetts, the Challenger Series will stop in the United States for the second straight year and for the third time since the start of the Challenger Series in 2019.

The U.S. delegation is headlined by the Haydenettes, the reigning World bronze medalists, in the senior event.

Skating on familiar ice at their home club in Norwood, the reigning and 32-time U.S. champions have already clinched a pair of medals internationally this season, capturing silver at 2025 French Cup in November and bronze at their first Challenger Series assignment, 2026 Britannia Cup.

With seven total Challenger Series medals, including bronze from this same event last year, the Haydenettes have the most of any U.S. senior team.

Also representing the United States in the senior event are the Skyliners and Teams Elite.

The Skyliners head into their second Challenger Series competition with momentum after securing bronze at 2026 Lumiere Cup just last weekend. The medal marked their fourth total and first Challenger Series podium since 2024.

Rounding out the U.S. contingent in the senior division, Teams Elite returns to the senior event for the first time since the 2022-23 season. The 2023 U.S. pewter medalists already have an international competition under their belt this season, finishing fifth at 2025 Santa Claus Cup in December.

In the junior event, all four reigning U.S. medalists – Teams Elite junior, Skyliners junior, the Lexettes and Team Image - will compete for the red, white and blue in Massachusetts.

Teams Elite junior and Skyliners junior are no strangers to standing on the podium together internationally. At the 2025 World Junior Championships, Teams Elite junior won gold, marking the first-ever gold for a U.S. synchronized skating team at a World Championships at any level. Skyliners junior clinched bronze, bringing their World Junior medal count to six total.

In addition, Teams Elite junior and Skyliners junior stood in the same positions on the podium at this Challenger Series event last year with gold and bronze.

Teams Elite junior, who currently ranks first in the Challenger Series standings, looks to extend an undefeated streak that began in January 2025.

The team that trains in Northbrook, Illinois, is on the hunt for their sixth straight Challenger Series gold and 10th total Challenger Series medal overall. The two-time and reigning U.S. champions are the most decorated U.S. team (junior or senior) in the history of the Challenger Series after topping the junior Challenger Series standings the past two seasons.

Skyliners junior will compete for their second Challenger Series medal and third international medal of the season after claiming bronze at Britannia Cup earlier this month and silver at Santa Claus Cup in December. If Skyliners junior secures a place on the podium, it would be their eighth Challenger Series medal in total.

Skating at their home club, The Skating Club of Boston, the Lexettes will look for their fourth Challenger Series medal. The team has already found success this season, clinching silver at 2026 Spring Cup.

Skating back-to-back weekends, two-time Challenger Series medalists Team Image led the U.S. junior teams at Lumiere Cup last weekend with a fourth-place finish. The team out of Hackensack, N.J., will vie for their third Challenger Series medal in Norwood this week.

Competition begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET with the junior and senior short programs. Medals will be awarded Saturday following the junior and senior free skates, which begin at 5 p.m. ET.

All events will be streamed live on Peacock, and can be accessed on Peacock for 72 hours following their conclusion.

The Challenger Series, which began in 2019-20, consists of up to five international competitions linked together to give adequate opportunities for synchronized skating teams to compete at the international level, earn World Standing Points and prepare for competing at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships.
