Annelise Stapert and Maxim Korotcov led the United States with a fourth-place finish in the ice dance event at the third of seven ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating events in Bangkok, Thailand this past weekend.   

Competing in their second Junior Grand Prix of the season, the team out of Virginia posted career personal bests in all three segments of competition and tied their highest finish at a JGP.  

Skating to "Believer" by Imagine Dragons and "Implicit Demand for Proof" by Twenty One Pilots, they placed third in the rhythm dance. The team received Level 4 marks on their sequential twizzles and rotational lift, both contributing to a rhythm dance score of 60.36.  

Despite finishing seventh in the free dance, Stapert and Korotcov held on to secure fourth overall in the competition. The team's free dance to "The Trees" by Max Richter featured three elements that secured Level 4s: their synchronized twizzles, dance spin and rotational lift. Their diagonal step sequences in both the rhythm dance and free dance were their highest-scoring elements across both competition segments, scoring 9.39 and 9.09 respectively.  

Cousins Anaelle Kouevi and Yann Homawoo, the second ice dance team competing for U.S. Figure Skating in Bangkok, finished eighth overall with international personal best scores across the board, including a total score of  132.09. This final placement ties their highest ever at a JGP event, which they earned at their JGP assignment in Turkey in 2025.  

In the rhythm dance, the fellow Virginia-trained duo ended their 53.06-point skate set to "Code Name Vivaldi" by the Piano Guys and "Red Dress" by Adrián Berenguer on a high note with a Level 4 rotational lift. At 8.35 points, their midline step sequence was their highest-scoring element. This score marked a new international personal best mark for the 2024 U.S. novice bronze medalists.  

Their free dance, performed to "Rite of Passage" by Henry Jackman and "Blood Diamond Soundtrack" by James Newton Howard, recorded a score of 79.03, good for eighth. Their score of 12.41 on a Level 4 combination lift was the third highest-scoring element of the competition.  

Louis Mallane finished ninth overall in the men's event, his highest placement at a JGP event. In his short program set to Michael Bublé's "Orange Colored Sky," he executed Level 4 spins and a Level 4 step sequence to merit an international personal best score of 64.28.  

In the free skate, the 2026 U.S. junior bronze medalist's highest-scoring element was his triple Llutz-double Axel-double toe loop sequence, which received 11.75 points in the second half of the program. His performance to "Waving Through a Window" and "You Will be Found" from Dear Evan Hansen also earned positive grades of execution on all but one element.  

Mallane continued the trend of personal bests over the competition. His score of 126.20 in the free skate and a combined point total of 190.48 marked career bests for the Idaho native. His total score crushed his previous best by more than 18 points.  

Also competing for the United States in the men's event, Hitonari Tani placed 15th overall in his JGP debut. After a 16th-place finish in the men's short program with a personal best score of 52.05, he finished 11th in the free skate.  

During his free skate, he scored 7.28 points on his opening triple Lutz, and 13.09 points on his triple flip-double Axel-double Axel sequence. His score of 115.63 was 12.69 points higher than his previous best, set earlier this season at the 2026 Asian Open.   

Tani's final score of 167.68 concluded a day of personal bests for U.S. Figure Skating as he set another new benchmark in international competition.
