Over 230 athletes will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, for the 2026 National Solo Dance Final taking place Sept. 15-19 at the Wings Event Center.  

The National Solo Dance Final features competition in three categories – solo pattern dance, shadow dance and combined solo dance. 

Qualification for the National Solo Dance Final is based on results from the 2026 Solo Dance Series, which runs March through August.  

A few names familiar to U.S. Figure Skating fans are set to take the ice in Kalamazoo. 

Amal Israilova will look to extend to her win streak with a fourth consecutive title in the international solo pattern dance event. 

Two of last year's champions are also back to compete. However, they have their eyes on a different title this season. Reigning junior combined champion Violet Yan will make the move to the senior combined event, while defending gold solo pattern dance gold medalist Jessica Burns will compete in the same event at the international level this year.  

The 2025 senior combined champion, Brooke Tufts, will also return to the Final. But this time, spectators can expect to see her behind the boards as a coach. 

For the second consecutive year, the junior combined champion will be presented with the Alexandr "Sasha" Kirsanov Trophy. This award honors the beloved coach, who was one of 28 members of the figure skating community that passed away on Jan. 29, 2025, on Flight 5342.  

Competition begins Wednesday, Sept. 16 [with what event; parallel] and culminates on Saturday, Sept. 19 with the shadow dance events.
