Three U.S. Theatre on Ice teams claimed gold at 2026 Nations' Cup, which took place April 21-26 in East Lansing, Michigan.
Nations' Cup and Adult Gold Cup is the most prestigious international Theatre On Ice competition for U.S. teams.
Teams representing the United States took gold in the senior, junior and novice events. The Skating Club of Boston's Forte of Boston and Act 1 of Boston claimed the top step of the podium in the senior and junior events, respectively, while Los Angeles Ice Theater was victorious in the novice division. Forte of Boston upgraded their silver medal from the past three events to gold in the senior event. The team out of Norwood, Massachusetts, scored 43.95 points in the choreographic exercise and 91.80 points in the free performance for 135.75 points overall, winning the competition by over 10 points. In the free performance program, they were the only team to achieve over nine points on any program component, which they achieved in all five categories.
Competing in their home state of Michigan, Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan earned the bronze medal with a total score of 120.10, their best result since taking bronze in 2019. The team earned 39.30 points in the choreographic exercise and 80.80 points in the free performance.
Creative Ice Theatre placed fourth and Capital Theatre on Ice finished sixth.
Act 1 of Boston captured gold in the junior event, successfully defending their title for the third event in a row. Despite a second-place finish in the choreographic exercise with a score of 35.05, the team rallied to win the free program with a score of 82.10, topping the final standings by 4.65 points with 117.15 points in total.
Los Angeles Ice Theater claimed the silver medal for the second time in three occurrences of Nations' Cup. The team from the City of Angels opened the competition with 34.40 points for a third-place finish in the choreographic exercise, but moved up to second in the free performance and overall, earning 78.10 in the latter half of the competition towards a 112.5-point final score.
Rounding out the U.S. entries, Ocean State Ice Theatre secured fifth place and the Houston Ice Theatre Skaters placed sixth.
No stranger to the Nations' Cup podium in Michigan, the Los Angeles Ice Theater won gold in the novice division. They were dominant the entire competition, winning both the choreographic exercise and free performance en route to a first-place finish. Going into the free performance in the lead with 32.40 points, the team received over seven points for all five program components in the free performance. Their theatricality stood out, adding an event-high 7.70 points to a 74.40 segment score. The team from California earned 106.80 points overall.
With a score of 100.85, Encore of Boston stood on the podium once again, this time wearing the silver medal around their necks.
Their skating skills stood out to the judges in the choreographic exercise, scoring 6.60 points for a segment score of 31.85.
In the free program, they earned over seven points for all but one element, including 7.25 points in both the building a universe and theatricality program component categories. They received 69.00 points on day two.
Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan clinched fifth place and Symmetry Ice Theatre finished close behind in sixth.
Two U.S. teams shared the podium in the open event with Allegro of Boston taking home silver and the Chesapeake Sapphires earning bronze.
Making their Nations' Cup debut in the open event, Allegro of Boston stood on the second step of the podium after scoring 95.10 points.
They won the choreographic exercise with 32.50 points and took second in the free performance, scoring 62.60 points. The team's composition in the free program earned 6.70 points, the highest-scoring program component of the event for the team.
Joining Boston in their Nations' Cup debut, the Chesapeake Sapphires were awarded the bronze medal. Their choreographic exercise earned its highest points in the presentation of theme category at 6.50 points, and the free performance was highlighted by their program composition, which earned 6.20 points towards segment scores of 31.60 and 60.00. Both point totals combined for a total score of 91.60. Â
Capital Theatre on Ice Open Team finished just outside of the top three in fourth with segment scores of 28.10 and 61.20, combining for 89.30 points in total.
Space Coast Hurricanes scored 88.90 points to clinch a top-five finish.
Team Spectacle placed seventh and Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan placed ninth.
Four adult teams skated on home ice as representatives of the United States of America as part of Adult Gold Cup, held concurrently with Nations' Cup in Michigan.
With their second medal of the week, Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan led the way for the red, white and blue with a silver medal-winning performance in East Lansing.
Competing in their home state, Harmony started off strong with a win in the choreographic exercise thanks to earning six points or above on all but one element for a score of 30.20. On the second day of competition, the team hailing from Hartland, Michigan, earned 65.90 points for a total score of 96.10 and the silver medal.
San Francisco Ice Theatre and Atlanta Ice Theatre Unsupervised clinched top-five finishes, placing fourth and fifth, respectively. Their scores were separated by only 0.75 points with San Francisco earning a total score of 85.95 and Atlanta tallying 85.20 points.
Capital Theatre on Ice collected 74.25 points to place seventh.
In the adaptive event, all four competing teams represented the stars and stripes: Virginia Ice Theatre, Overture of Boston, Chicagoland Ice Theatre Inspirations and BRAVO. This marks the second year that adaptive skating teams have been invited to skate at Nations Cup.
