U.S. Men Finish in Top 10 at Four Continents Championships

Hiwatashi leads the way

The U.S. men all finished in the top 10 on Sunday on the final day of the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2026 in Beijing, China.

Tomoki Hiwatashi, Jacob Sanchez and Liam Kapeikis placed seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively, in the field of 26 skaters.

Hiwatashi, competing for the sixth time at this event, posted a free skate score of 159.66, which was eighth in the segment, and a total score of 240.54.

Skating to "Creep" by Vincent Cannady, he nailed his opening quad toe loop-triple toe loop for 15.60 points, as well as two other combinations in the middle of the program that produced a total of 26.28 points. He received Level 4s on his three spins and step sequence.

Sanchez, the reigning U.S. pewter medalist, finished seventh in the free skate and eighth overall with international personal best free skate and total scores of 161.68 and 240.25, respectively.

Performing to "Mercy Duet," "Mercy Voiceless" and "Refuge" by Max Richter and Ros Stephen, Sanchez skated a nearly clean program. He opened with a triple Axel-triple toe loop combination that generated 14.60 points. Another huge jumping pass toward the end of the routine – a triple Lutz-double Axel-double Axel sequence – produced 15.27 points. Two spins received Level 4 credit.

Kapeikis finished 10th in the free skate with 150.03 points and 10th overall with a score of 226.75.

Performing to music from the Dragon Heart soundtrack, he opened with a triple Axel-double toe loop for 11.24 points. He earned Level 4 for two of his spins.
