A record 103 teams from across the country take the ice this week in Irvine, California, for 2026 National Theatre On Ice.

The competition begins Tuesday and runs through Saturday at Great Park Ice and Fivepoint Arena. Teams composed of eight to 28 skaters will compete for theatrical skating titles across 11 divisions: preliminary, intermediate, juvenile, novice, junior, senior, open, open ensemble, adult, open adult and adaptive.

Act 1 of Boston arrives as the reigning junior champion and will attempt to stand on top of the podium for a sixth consecutive year. Their home club — The Skating Club of Boston — also looks to defend titles in the senior, novice, intermediate and adaptive categories.

Harmony Theatre Company in Hartland, Michigan, will defend its adult and preliminary event titles, while the Space Coast Hurricanes of Rockledge, Florida, and Team Spectacle of Aston, Pennsylvania, will vie for their third straight gold in the juvenile and open categories, respectively.

Competition consists of two programs: a choreographic exercise and free performance. Teams are evaluated on technical elements as well as presentation with a specific emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality. Scores from both segments are combined for a total score.

This marks the first time that National Theatre On Ice will be held in the state of California, with All Year Figure Skating Club hosting the event.

Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theatre and dance. TOI brings skaters together to tell a story and gives them the chance to be a part of a team, compete in domestic and international competitions and make new friends.
