Adult Skaters Have Georgia on Their Minds

U.S. Adult Championships Get Underway on Wednesday

4/6/2026 12:00:00 PM

Just 160 miles from the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, the 31st annual U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships presented by Prevagen will take place at the same time in Duluth, Georgia.

This marks the first time that the skating competition, which runs from April 8-11 at the Atlanta IceForum, will be held in the Peach State, and only the second time in the Southeastern United States (Wake Forest, North Carolina, 2017).

Nearly 490 skaters between the ages of 21 and 85 will compete in 122 events at the marquee competition of the adult skating season. Skaters will make 772 starts in singles, pairs, solo dance, partnered dance and showcase events across three tracks: adult, masters and centennial.

U.S. titles will be awarded in 11 championship events, which run throughout the day on Saturday: adult silver women, adult silver men, adult gold women, adult gold men, adult solo dance, adult dance, masters intermediate-novice women, masters intermediate-novice men, masters junior-senior women, masters junior-senior men and masters pairs.

Kristina Struthwolf-Leato leads the list of defending gold medalists in the championship masters junior-senior women's division. She's attempting to secure her fifth consecutive title (and sixth overall). Eric Cook will look for a repeat victory in the championship adult gold men's class. Seasoned veteran Ken Nguyen will also look to repeat in championship adult silver men, while the veteran ice dance team of Jennifer Freedman and Oleg Voyko will vie for their third consecutive gold medal and seventh medal overall in the adult dance event.

Several past champions are set to compete as well, including 2024 winner Meghan Lapointe (adult solo dance), five-time winner Daniel Palmeri (masters junior-senior men), seven-time winner Michael Rubke (masters intermediate-novice men) and eight-time winner Michael Ricigliano, who will be joined by his new partner, Amy Lepis (adult dance).

Seven "lifers," those who have attended all 31 U.S. Adult Championships, will take the ice in Georgia: Colleen Conroy, Julie Gidlow, Ted Gradman, Walter Horton, Angela Prevost, Thom Mullins and Dorothy Ray.

Madeline Nasby, 85, will receive the Yvonne M. Dowlen Trophy, which is awarded annually to the oldest competitor. Nasby will be the first gold-level competitor to receive this award since its inception in 2017.

Championship events will be livestreamed on the U.S. Figure Skating YouTube channel.
