Jimmy Ma led the U.S. men with a sixth-place finish and Jacob Sanchez placed eighth at Grand Prix de France, the first of six stops on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.

Both U.S. men posted season-best free skate and total scores.

Ma had the crowd dancing along to his free skate, which included an array of crowd-favorite disco songs. Excerpts from "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" by Piano Dust Covers, "It's Raining Men" by The Weather Girls, and "Macho Man" and "Y.M.C.A" by Village People all featured in his high-energy program.

The 2025 Four Continents bronze medalist opened with a quadruple toe loop that posted a score of 11.67 and earned a grade of execution of 2.17. Ma struggled to find his footing on not only his two remaining single jumps, but also his triple Axel-Euler-double Salchow-double Axel sequence. However, his combination spin was awarded a Level 4 distinction. His efforts earned him a free skate score of 144.33 and 221.44 points overall.

In contrast to Ma's upbeat music choice, Sanchez delivered a graceful performance with his free skate to a medley of compositions from the Demon Slayer soundtrack. The 2024 Junior Grand Prix Final champion fell on his opening quadruple Salchow but collected just shy of 11 points for his triple Axel-Euler-triple Salchow combination. He concluded with a Level 4 flying sit spin for 132.97 points in the segment.

Yesterday's competition saw Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko earn bronze in the ice dance event, the first U.S. medal of the Grand Prix Series. Sarah Everhardt also clinched seventh place in the women's competition on Saturday afternoon.

The U.S. National Team is back on the road next week for the second stop of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Skate Canada International. The competition is slated to take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Kelowna, British Columbia.
