Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko delivered a strong performance to finish third in the rhythm dance Friday at Grand Prix de France, kicking off the first of six events in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series.
Skating to a medley of "I Could've Danced All Night" and "Embassy Waltz" from My Fair Lady followed by "Sing Sing Sing" by Louis Prima, the 2026 Olympians earned Level 4 marks on their sequential twizzles, creative dance element and rotational lift. Their Golden Waltz pattern also contributed 10.94 points to a rhythm dance score of 77.83.
Eva Pate and Logan Bye finished just outside of the top three spots headed into tomorrow's free dance, tallying 64.80 points. The Novi, Michigan-based team garnered Level 4 distinctions for their rotational lift and creative dance element during their Pirates of the Caribbean-themed skate.
Rounding out the U.S. ice dance entries, Leah Neset and Artem will enter the free dance in sixth place with 64.60 points. The star of their skate set to a medley of songs performed by Frank Sinatra, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett was their circular step sequence, which was the highest-scoring element of their program at 9.09 points.
The sole U.S. women's competitor in this event, Sarah Everhardt experienced a shaky start to her first competitive skate of the season.
Skating to "Danse Macabre" by Camille Saint-Saens, the Virginia native fell on her opening triple Lutz, but found her footing in the second half of the program to earn positive grades of execution on each remaining element. Her final layback spin was awarded a Level 4 from the judges. She finished in ninth place with 60.73 points.
Competition continues Saturday with the men's short program, free dance, pairs short program and women's free skate.
