Maxim Naumov and
Daniel Martynov finished fifth and eighth, respectively, at the 2022 Warsaw Cup in Warsaw, Poland.
Both competing in the men's event, Naumov earned a score of 76.17 for his short program to "Glimpse of Us" by Joji, earning his highest points for a triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination and achieving Level 4s for all his spins.
Going into the free skate in fifth place, Naumov finished with a free skate score of 142.81 points to his skate to "Iron" by Woodkid and "Loyal" by ODESZA thanks to a triple Axel-double Axel sequence and a Level 4 distinction for his camel spin. He finished fifth at his second Challenger Series event this season with an overall score of 218.98.
Competing as a senior for the first time,
Daniel Martynov finished eighth. He earned a short program score of 71.75 after opening with a triple Axel and triple flip-triple toe combination while skating to "Land of All" by Woodkid.
Following the free skate, Martynov bettered his ranking from ninth to eighth place, earning a personal best score of 132.39 points, more than 16 points above his previous international best. His performance to "Air" by Jan Werner included a strong triple Axel-double toe loop combination and camel spin that earned a Level 4 mark.
He also earned a personal best overall score of 204.14 points.
Kevin Aymoz of France won gold (258.02), Italy's Daniel Grassl earned silver (257.76) and Lukas Britschgi of Switzerland secured bronze (253.66).
The next Challenger Series event for Team USA will be the Golden Spin of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia, Dec. 7-10.
