Team USA Earns Nine Medals in Challenger Series Finale at Golden Spin of Zagreb

The United States earned nine medals, including three golds, this week at the 2019 Golden Spin of Zagreb in Croatia.
 
Lucas Altieri took home the weekend's first gold in the junior men's competition with a total score of 183.76.
 
The Florida native scored 65.10 in the short program and 118.66 in the free skate, winning gold by over 40 points.
 
Croatia's Charles Henry Katanovic earned silver (141.59) and Artet Levandi of Estonia secured bronze with 129.06 points.
 
Jason Brown, fresh off his fifth-place finish at NHK Trophy, earned a short program score of 79.44 and a free skate score of 162.95 to tally 242.39 points en route to securing gold in the senior men's competition.
 
Camden Pulkinen (219.57) and Alex Krasnozhon (212.51) rounded out the American contingent in the senior men's field, finishing sixth and ninth, respectively.
 
Morisi Kvitelashvili of Georgia finished in second (236.65), while Russian Makar Ignatov picked up bronze (229.22).
 
Senior pairs duo and reigning U.S. champions Ashley Cain-Gribble and Timothy LeDuc also took home gold, topping the podium with a total score of 199.43.
 
Tarah Kayne and Danny O'Shea took earned silver (194.29), and Olivia Serafini and Mervin Tran (155.21) finished seventh.
 
Minerva Fabienne Hase and Nolan Seegert (185.09) of Germany rounded out the podium, finishing third.
 
In the junior pairs competition, Anastasiia Smirnova and Danil Siianytsia received a cumulative score of 132.70 and earned silver, while Winter Deardorff and Mikhail Johnson earned bronze with 132.59 points.
 
The Georgian duo Alina Butaeva and Luka Berulava rounded out the podium, winning gold with a total score of 142.54.
 
As the lone U.S. team in the junior ice dance competition, Katarina Wolfkostin and Jeffrey Chen earned a score of 163.81 and won silver.
 
Russians Arina Ushakova and Maxim Nekrasov (164.95) secured gold, and Italy's Carolina Portesi Peroni and Michael Chrastecky earned bronze (151.67).
 
The U.S. sent two ice dance teams in the senior division. Caroline Green and Michael Parsons earned their second Challenger Series medal, picking up the bronze medal with 187.10 points. Just behind them in fourth place, Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter earned 183.47 points.

Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri (202.18) picked up gold, while Russians Annabelle Morozov and Andrei Bagin earned silver (191.71).
 
In her first junior competition of the season, Starr Andrews won the silver medals in the ladies competition, scoring 55.91 in the short program and 105.62 in the free skate to total 161.53 points overall. Making her international debut, Elsa Cheng finished in fourth place with 144.13 points.
 
Russian Ksenia Tsibinova (186.64) earned gold and Nargiz Suleymanova (145.46) of Germany picked up bronze.
