The hotel is located off I-494, less than three miles from MSP Airport, and offers a free airport shuttle.

Tentative Schedule

Day 1: Thurs., April 16

8:00 a.m.

Training begins for all data, pairs, ice dance, and synchronized candidates. Also for new/recertification candidates for singles and nonqualifying singles officials.

12:00 p.m.

Training and rotations begin for qualifying and sectional singles officials.

Days 2 & 3: Fri., April 17 & Sat., April 18

Friday (All Day)

Training and rotations continue for all groups.

Saturday (Morning)

Written Exams are administered.

Saturday (Remainder of Day)

Rotations continue.

Day 4: Sun., April 19

8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Practical Exams for those testing for appointments.

2:00 p.m. and later

Departure for those testing. Observers may depart any time Sunday.

Note: An introductory educational session will be offered via video conference 3-4 weeks prior to the seminar.

Seminar Offerings and Participation Options

Disciplines

Candidates can train and test for appointments in the following areas:

  • Singles
  • Pairs
  • Ice Dance (Partnered and Solo)
  • Synchronized Skating

*Disciplines may have to be cancelled if we do not receive enough registrations.

Officials Types

  • Technical Controllers
  • Technical Specialists
  • Data Operators (train and test in all disciplines)

We encourage people to pick one discipline, as the disciplines all run concurrently; however, if you would like to apply to test in two disciplines or two positions, you must submit a separate application for each.

Participation & Costs

Certification, Recertification, or Advancement $200
Activity (Practice, no testing) $175
Observer (Can observe sessions, not exams/rotations) $150

Cost Includes:

  • National faculty
  • More than two days of intensive IJS training
  • Testing for certification/recertification/advancement
  • The opportunity to network with other officials

Expenses for travel, hotel, and meals are the responsibility of the attendee.

CRUCIAL APPLICATION NOTE: we recommend holding off booking flights until you are officially accepted to the seminar. If you choose to book your flights earlier, U.S. Figure Skating will not be responsible for any costs you may incur if you are not accepted to the seminar.

Applications are due by Sunday, February 1, 2026 and must be submitted online.
