St. Peter to Cap Outstanding Career on ISU Council

On Friday, U.S. Figure Skating's Patricia St. Peter will step down from her post on the International Skating Union Council after a decade of service.

St. Peter's work with the ISU began as a member of the Disciplinary Commission from 2004 to 2006; she held other governance roles within the ISU before she was elected to the Council in 2016. Her term on the Council is now complete.

St. Peter has carried the torch as a "passionate advocate for athletes and defended the interests of member federations" during her distinguished stint on the Council, her colleagues said. She's demonstrated exceptional leadership grounded in collaboration, consensus-building and clear communication, and has consistently emphasized team-oriented governance, recognizing that success in sport organizations depends on unified effort and shared vision.

That leadership propelled St. Peter to run for the ISU presidency in 2022, in which she laid out the pathway to a stronger, more cohesive organization following the pandemic.

Before her time on the Council, St. Peter served as president of U.S. Figure Skating from 2009 to 2014. A guiding light, St. Peter has helped pave the way for U.S. Figure Skating's new leadership to thrive.

"Pat has helped me tremendously transition into my new role as chief executive officer of U.S. Figure Skating," Matt Farrell said. "She's been gracious with her time, helping me gain a deeper understanding of the sport, our governance and important partnership with the ISU. Her strong advice for all things is appreciated."

St. Peter first took up skating at the age of 7, before serving as a coach and official. Her well-rounded knowledge of the sport continues to serve the organization well.

"Throughout her extensive involvement in figure skating, Pat has been dedicated to improving the governance, operations and stature of our sport — always keeping an eye focused on what is best for our athletes," newly elected U.S. Figure Skating President Kevin Rosenstein said. "She has been a consummate leader and we are fortunate to have her as our colleague."

St. Peter, an attorney, resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her husband, Tom. They have a daughter, Claire.
