The 2026 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships hosted in St. Louis, Missouri, in January was named the "Best Amateur Sports Event" in the 2026 SportsTravel Awards.

U.S. Figure Skating received the honor during the TEAMS '26 Conference & Expo in Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday. The event recognized the best events, new venue and host city in the sports-event industry.

The "Best Amateur Sports Event" award is based on criteria that includes number of competing athletes and spectators over multiple days; measurable financial and tourism benefit brought to the city or region; and the successful coordination of scheduling, multi-venue or large-scale floor/facility logistics, host-city hospitality and athlete services.

"St. Louis really embraced our athletes and fans and helped us deliver an incredibly memorable U.S. Championships," U.S. Figure Skating Vice President of Events Bob Dunlop said. "Being named Best Amateur Sports Event recognizes the work of our partners at the St. Louis Sports Commission, our venue teams, volunteers and staff. Together, they created an exceptional stage for our athletes as they pursued their Olympic dreams. These recording breaking Championships demonstrated the excitement our sport inspires and the impact it can have on a host community."

Hosted by the St. Louis Sports Commission at Enterprise Center and Centene Community Ice Center, the U.S. Championships welcomed the nation's top figure skaters and served as the final step toward selection for Team USA at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

The event attracted more than 91,500 spectators, the highest attendance since 2014, with the largest Friday session since 2002. The event generated $15.8 million in economic impact, nearly 25,000 hotel room nights and $944,000 in combined state and local sales tax revenue.
