Media Hospitality

Due to the rules at Orleans Arena, U.S. Figure Skating cannot provide any food/snacks in the arena. Media may bring small snacks for themselves, and there are many food options around the arena/hotel. Media may bring a water bottle and there will be refill stations on the event level as well as the concourse.

Interviews

All interaction with athletes and coaches at the 2024 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships will take place in the mixed zone (in the ice entry on event level at Gate B (below section 108)).

To access the mixed zone, media will need to wear a pinny (this will notify security you are allowed to go to the mixed zone on the event level). Pinnies may be picked up in the media area and should be returned each day.

Interview Protocol

  • Athletes and coaches will be brought through the mixed zone by request only. Media can submit their requested athletes in person or via email to Kristen Henneman (khenneman@usfigureskating.org).
  • Please comply with the U.S. Figure Skating Professional Journalism policy

Practice Interviews

Those wishing to interview skaters in the mixed zone after a practice session should email Kristen Henneman (khenneman@usfigureskating.org) at least two hours before the practice session. Athletes will be brought in by request only. We cannot guarantee that athletes will attend practice sessions on any given day. U.S. Figure Skating communications staff will facilitate interviews after practice in the mixed zone. Practice session interviews will NOT be recorded. No interviews will be facilitated following warm-up sessions.

Mixed Zone Interviews: Requested athletes will “come through” the mixed zone after receiving scores. A member of the U.S. Figure Skating communications staff will moderate on-site. The moderator will hold the athlete(s) for a minute in the mixed zone. If there are no questions for a certain athlete, the athlete(s) will be permitted to leave. Please be ready to ask a question after the athlete has received scores.

Photographer Positions

All photographers will need to wear a pinny to access the photographer positions on the event level. Please pick one up in the media area at the beginning of the day and return it each day.

On ice positions: On-ice positions will be available to the left of the judges stand. Photographers are allowed in positions 2-5 (position 1 is reserved). Positions are first-come, first-served.

Upper level positions: Upper level positions will be available in the ADA seating at section 104 above the judges stand.

Event Photos

U.S. Figure Skating will have photos available for media to use after all competition events. Please send photo requests to Kristen Henneman (khenneman@usfigureskating.org). All photos must be credited to “KrPhotogs Photography/U.S. Figure Skating” and must adhere to media usage guidelines (editorial use only, credit must be given).
