Alysa Liu Secures Third Olympic Women’s Entry for the United States

With her gold-medal finish at 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, Alysa Liu secured a third entry in the women’s competition for the United States at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Nebelhorn Trophy, held September 21-25 in Oberstdorf, Germany, is the final qualifying competition for the Olympic Winter Games. 

With her gold-medal finish at 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy, Alysa Liu secured a third entry in the women's competition for the United States at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Nebelhorn Trophy, held September 21-25 in Oberstdorf, Germany, is the final qualifying competition for the Olympic Winter Games.

Liu was first after the short program, earning 70.86 points for her performance to "Gypsy Dance II" from Don Quixote. She went on to win the free skate and the competition with a 136.54-point program that included seven triple jumps and three Level 4 spins. She collected 207.40 points en route to gold, winning her second consecutive Challenger Series event.

Based on the results of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2021, the United States earned two Olympic entries in both the women's and men's competition with the opportunity to confirm a third entry at Nebelhorn Trophy. Yesterday in Oberstdorf, Vincent Zhou won the men's competition to secure the third spot for the U.S. in the men's event in Beijing.

In addition to the three entries in the women's and men's events confirmed at Nebelhorn Trophy, the U.S. earned two entries in pairs and three entries in ice dance at the 2021 World Championships.
