The International Skating Union announced today athlete selections for the 2022 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which will begin Oct. 21-23 with 2022 Skate America in Norwood, Massachusetts.
The field at Skate America® will feature three-time Olympians and three-time World Championship medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates (ice dance) as well as the reigning World Champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier (pairs). 2022 U.S. Olympic Team members Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker (ice dance) will also be in attendance. Making their Grand Prix debuts in Norwood are 2022 World Junior Champions Isabeau Levito (women's) and Ilia Malinin (men's).
A limited number of seats remain for Skate America®. Tickets may be purchased at 2022skateamerica.com.
The Grand Prix Series incorporates six international figure skating competitions as a unified point-scoring series that awards prize money to eligible skaters. At the conclusion of the series, athletes' points are totaled, and the top six women, men, pairs and ice dance teams will be eligible to compete at the 2022 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 8-11, in Torino, Italy.
In 2021, the United States captured 12 medals on the Grand Prix circuit. Team USA was set to have five entries in the 2021 Grand Prix Final, but the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The complete list of athlete selections for the 2022 Grand Prix Series is available on isu.org. The lists of U.S. selections to all six Grand Prix events and international selections to Skate America® are below. (Lineups are subject to change.)
