2020 U.S. Adult Qualifying Season Begins

The 2020 U.S. adult qualifying season begins March 6-8 with record-breaking entries.

The 2020 U.S. adult qualifying season begins March 6-8 with the Eastern, Midwestern and Pacific Coast Adult Sectional Championships. Championship events include championship masters junior-senior free skate, championship masters intermediate-novice free skate, championship adult gold free skate, championship adult silver free skate, championship masters pairs and championship adult dance. Entries this season are at a record-breaking high with 263 championship event starts registered across all three adult sectional championships.

The top four finishers from each championship event will qualify for the 2020 U.S. Adult Championships, set for April 14-18 in Newark, Delaware. The very first U.S. Adult Championships in 1995 were also held in Delaware, so the location holds a sentimental place in adult skating history. In addition to the marquee championship events, open events in free skate, pairs, solo dance, partnered dance and showcase from the bronze through masters levels will be contested, as athletes converge from across the nation to compete.

Results will be available on U.S. Figure Skating Fan Zone. Video from the championship events will be available on-demand in Fan Zone after the conclusion of the events.

Adult Competition Series Awards

Adult Competition Series awards will be presented at the nonqualifying events held in conjunction with the Eastern Adult Sectional Championships and Midwestern Adult Sectional Championships. Final standings will be posted in the Members Only section of the U.S. Figure Skating website.

The U.S. Figure Skating Adult Competition Series is open to adult skaters in the adult 1 through adult bronze levels. The mission of this program is to provide a meaningful series of events to encourage grassroots adult skaters to enjoy a fun and competitive environment within the adult skating community. Participants compete in both the free skate and compulsory events during at least two participating Compete USA and/or nonqualifying competitions, one being the nonqualifying event held in conjunction with a skater's Adult Sectional Championships.
Athletes receive points based on their placement and number of competitors in each event, and these points determine the final series winners in each section.
