The Figure Skating Pass will also feature a Practice Cam, covering championship-level practices and warm-ups in the main rink. The Fan Zone Ice Desk will stream live from Greensboro on the U.S. Figure Skating Fan Zone, as well as U.S. Figure Skating’s Facebook and YouTube. Coverage will feature commentators Michael Weiss (three-time U.S. men’s champion), Brooke Castile (2007 U.S. pairs champion), Mirai Nagasu (2008 U.S. ladies champion, 2018 Olympic Team Event bronze medalist) and Ben Agosto (five-time U.S. ice dance champion, 2006 Olympic silver medalist, four-time World medalist).
This event marks the third time that Greensboro has been chosen to host the U.S. Championships in the last decade (2011, 2015, 2020). The 2011 U.S. Championships marked the first time that the event was held in North Carolina in the competition’s history. For the event in 2015, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex unveiled a $24 million renovation that included new seating, a huge video board and new restrooms. SportTravel magazine named the 2015 U.S. Championships "Sports Event of the Year" and "Best Amateur Multi-Sport or Multi-Discipline Event.”
In conjunction with the Championships, more than 170 athletes at the juvenile, intermediate and novice levels will descend on the National High Performance Development Team Camp, set for Jan. 26-29 in Indian Trail, North Carolina. The athletes earned the right to attend the camp based on their placements at the U.S. Sectional Singles Finals, U.S. Pairs Finals and U.S. Ice Dance Finals in November. The camp features competitive group training, both on and off the ice, which rotates between instruction sessions and sessions where athletes showcase their best skills. Off-ice sessions will include specialty dance sessions, lifts, sports science, learning from officials, preparation for Team USA and unique performance sessions.
