(10/1/20) - The International Skating Union announced today the athlete selections for the 2020 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which will begin Oct. 23-25 with 2020 Skate America at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the ISU Council determined that the Grand Prix Series would be staged as domestically run events with participants at each event limited to athletes from the host country, training in the host country or in the respective geographical area. This season only, competitors will be ranked based on their total score(s) at a Grand Prix Series event. Team USA will only send athletes to Skate America and Skate Canada International.
The field at Skate America will feature reigning U.S. champions Nathan Chen (men), and Madison Chock and Evan Bates (ice dance), as well as Americans Mariah Bell and the pairs team of Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson. 2018 Olympians Bradie Tennell, Karen Chen, Vincent Zhou, and Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue will also compete at the Orleans Arena.
In 2019, the United States captured 15 medals on the Grand Prix circuit, including three medals at the 2019 Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy.
The complete list of athlete selections for the 2020 Grand Prix Series is available at www.isu.org. The lists of all U.S. selections to Grand Prix events and international selections to Skate America are below. (Lineups are subject to change.)
