U.S. Figure Skating Seeking Independent Directors

U.S. Figure Skating is seeking applications for independent directors to serve on its Board of Directors.

At the 2021 U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council, U.S. Figure Skating approved significant changes to its Board of Directors structure beginning with the 2022-23 season. In addition to increasing athlete representation to 33.3% and moving to an at-large director model, the Board of Directors will now include two independent directors. Independent directors are those that have not been materially associated with the sport or organization in at least the past five years.

Independent directors on a national governing body’s Board are required by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee beginning in 2022. Independent directors bring a fresh perspective to the Board along with new networks and experiences to help make the organization stronger.

U.S. Figure Skating is seeking candidates to serve who will bring a unique and fresh set of professional experiences, connections, knowledge and diversity to the organization.
