The United States secured a medal of every color this weekend at the 2019 Warsaw Cup, the penultimate stop of the 2019 Challenger Series season.
After finishing fourth at 2019 Skate America presented by American Cruise Lines and sixth at Skate Canada International, Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson took home gold in the pairs competition marking the first time the team has topped the podium on an international stage.
The California-based duo received a short program score of 68.20 and a free skate score of 123.26, combining for a cumulative score of 191.46, while Americans Nica Digerness and Danny Neudecker finished 14th in their season debut on the international stage with a total score of 134.43.
Russians Alina Pepeleva and Roman Pleshkov (188.79) finished second, and Canadian duo of Justine Brasseur and Mark Bardei (172.21) rounded out the pairs competition podium.
Following two seventh-place finishes earlier this season, ice dance duo Caroline Green and Michael Parsons found their way to their finish international medal, taking home bronze with a total score of 172.16.
Green and Parsons, skating to pieces from Cry-Baby, received a rhythm dance score of 67.40 before scoring 104.76 in the free dance for a total of 172.16.
France’s Marie-Jade Lauriault and Romain Le Gac (185.48) won gold in the ice dance competition, and Russians Ksenia Konkina and Pavel Drozd (178.43) finished second.
In the final event of the weekend, Bradie Tennell continued her promising season winning the silver medal in the ladies competition.
The Illinois native, who took silver at Skate America and finished fourth at Skate Canada International, received a short program score of 70.10 and a free skate score of 118.91 in Warsaw en route to securing 189.01 total points and the silver medal.
Ekaterina Kurakova of Poland took the title (201.47) and Russia’s Elizaveta Nugumanova won bronze (186.02).
The Challenger Series will conclude next month at the Golden Spin of Zagreb in Croatia. Competition begins on Dec. 4 and will wrap up Dec. 7.
