Bradie Tennell was shocked when the pandemic canceled the World Championships.

Bradie Tennell spoke with Friends of Figure Skating members via a Zoom chat.

“My phone was blowing up. I actually went to three different sites to make sure it was real,” she told Friends of Figure Skating during a recent Zoom chat.

But she knows it was the right call and now she has plenty of time with her family, including her mother, who doubles as her trainer.

“It’s good and bad to live with your trainer, you know?” Tennell said with a smile. “I’ve stayed active with my brothers who are home. They keep me on my toes; we play hockey in the driveway, so being off the ice for this long isn’t as stressful. I keep moving and staying in shape. I keep up aspects of training.”

Still, Tennell misses the ice and performing and can’t wait to return to the rink once it is safe and opens up. She is known for her cerebral ability to focus and continues to stay mentally strong at home.

“I’m not even entertaining the possibility that there won’t be a season,” Tennell said. “In my mind, I don’t even know what I would do if there wasn’t. At this level, you always have to be on, so I focus on that and what I have to do.”

What does Tennell want to do when she can finally hit the ice?

“The first thing I’ll do is jump. I really miss jumping,” she said.
