Jacob Sanchez placed just off the podium in fourth in the men’s event on the third day of the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2025 in Debrecen, Hungary.
Competing at the World Junior Championships for the second consecutive year, Sanchez opened his performance to "Io Ci Saró" by Andrea Bocelli with his two highest-scoring elements – a triple Axel-triple toe loop combination and a triple Axel that were awarded 14.49 and 10.29 points, respectively. Both elements received grades of execution of 2.29, contributing to a free skate score of 147.53.
The 2024 Junior Grand Prix Final champion claimed a new personal best total score of 230.41. The fourth-place finish marked his best result at the World Junior Championships.
Patrick Blackwell finished 13th with a free skate score of 138.06 and final score of 200.06.
In the pairs event, entering as the reigning World Junior silver and bronze medalists, Olivia Flores and Luke Wang and Naomi Williams and Lachlan Lewer finished in the top 10 in the short program.
Flores and Wang collected 51.02 points to secure eighth in the segment. The highlight of their program to “Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight” by Jennifer Hudson was their Level 4 lift, which was awarded 5.68 points. They also earned the fifth-highest program component score of 24.94.
Finishing just 0.7 points behind Flores and Wang in ninth were Williams and Lewer. The duo who competed as seniors internationally for the first this season, skated to "Joli Garçon" by Pink Martini and garnered a total segment score of 50.95.
2025 U.S. junior pairs champions Reagan Moss and Jakub Galbavy scored 45.52 points to finish 17th, which was one position shy of advancing to the free skate.
Competition concludes tomorrow with the women’s and pairs free skates.
