The Haydenettes, the most decorated synchronized skating team in U.S. Figure Skating history, added another World medal to their collection, clinching the bronze at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships 2025 in Helsinki, Finland.

The podium finish marks the second straight and seventh total World medal for the Haydenettes.

“It means everything being able to continue the trajectory from last year and [this medal] holds a special place in our hearts,” said Haydenette Carmela Mariz Olarte.

The 32-time U.S. champions set new international season’s bests for both their free skate and total score, earning 148.24 points in the segment for a two-day total of 224.77.

Skating to "Caves" by Cody Fry and "Eleanor Rigby" by Joshua Bell and Frankie Moreno, the Haydenettes claimed Level 4s on six elements. They started strong with their second element, a group lift, claiming 10.39 points. Additional highlights included their second intersection and twizzle element late in the performance.

“We are proud of our skate tonight,” Mariz Olarte said. “We took the ice with a very calm energy and felt confident going into our final performance. We felt no pressure going into this competition and went in with the mindset of staying together and delivering what we do every day in practice. Being able to skate our best we had all season was very special and we are super proud of ourselves.”

The Skyliners finished seventh in the free skate to move up to eighth place overall. The team that trains in Connecticut has finished in the top 10 every year they’ve competed at the World Championships.

In their fourth Worlds appearance, the Skyliners secured Level 4 marks on four elements. They saved their best element for last as their second intersection, which earned a Level 4 point of intersection, was awarded 8.70 points.

Their “unseen humans” themed free skate generated 127.83 points for a total of 186.40.

"After seeing the energy in the arena on the short day, we knew that the crowd would carry us through our program today and we achieved our goal by taking the ice with confidence and performing each element to its fullest,” said Skyliners team member Abby McGuire. “We are so proud to have left the ice knowing nothing was held back."
