Happy National Skating Month!

This month marks the 22nd annual National Skating Month, a celebration of the fun of skating to increase participation in the sport.

January is National Skating Month, and we want you to join in on the celebration!

Now in its 22nd year, National Skating Month was created by U.S. Figure Skating and Learn to Skate USA to increase participation in and create enthusiasm for all ice sports. Most importantly, it was created to have fun and celebrate a collective love for skating!

Clubs all over the country participate by hosting events at their local rinks to attract new skaters and get current skaters involved within their community. Last year, more than 425 clubs hosted events in their communities, ranging from open houses with free lessons to skating demonstrations and meet and greets with Team USA athletes.

This year’s theme is “Join in the FUN, Skating is for Everyone!” This theme hopes to highlight that skating is truly for all, regardless of people’s backgrounds, abilities and skill level. Anyone can be involved in the sport and has a place in the community.

“National Skating Month is one of our favorite campaigns throughout the year as it is 100% focused on sharing our passion for skating and encouraging new people to give it a try,” Susi Wehrli McLaughlin, senior director of membership at U.S. Figure Skating, said. “Our theme reinforces that every person has a place on the ice – regardless of experience or ability.”

To help spread the fun, share your celebrations with U.S. Figure Skating on social media by using #NationalSkatingMonth and #SkatingIsForEveryone for a chance to be featured on U.S. Figure Skating or Learn to Skate USA’s social channels throughout the month.

We can’t wait to see you on the ice!
