Eighty teams travel to Evansville, Indiana, for 2024 National Theatre on Ice this week.

Held June 25-29 at Ford Center, teams will compete for theatrical skating titles across nine divisions: preliminary, intermediate, juvenile, novice, junior, senior, open, adult and adaptive.

Returning to the ice to continue their historic run is Harmony Theatre Company of Michigan, the most decorated senior team in the history of National Theatre On Ice. Last year, Harmony took home gold in three of the nine division, winning their sixth senior title.

Act 1 of Boston enters as the reigning junior champions after winning their third consecutive title in 2023.

Competition consists of two programs: a free skate and choreographic exercise. Teams are evaluated on technical elements as well as presentation with a specific emphasis on originality, costuming, artistry and musicality.

This marks National Theatre On Ice’s second time in Evansville. The competition was first hosted there in 2017.

Theatre On Ice (TOI) is a form of competitive figure skating that combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theatre and dance. Theatre On Ice teams consist of eight to 30 skaters  telling a story together on the ice. TOI brings skaters together and gives them the chance to be a part of a team, travel locally and internationally, and make new friends.
