Skate Canada International
Ladies
Gracie Gold, the U.S. silver medalist, will compete at Skate Canada for the second straight season. She began the 2013-14 campaign with a silver-medal finish at the 2013 U.S. International Classic in mid-September. Christina Gao, who qualified for the 2012 Grand Prix Final, begins her third Grand Prix season after winning bronze at 2013 Nepela Memorial earlier this month. Courtney Hicks will make her Grand Prix debut in Saint John. She was added to the event's roster after Olympic champion Yu-Na Kim of South Korea withdrew. Hicks is the 2013 U.S. International Classic champion.

Men
Ross Miner, the U.S. silver medalist, looks to improve upon a fifth-place showing at this event last fall. Jeremy Abbott will compete at Skate Canada for the first time since winning the event in 2009. Abbott is a three-time U.S. champion and the reigning bronze medalist. Joshua Farris makes his Grand Prix Series debut. He closed out last season by winning the World Junior title.

Pairs
Lindsay Davis and Rockne Brubaker formed their partnership in the offseason and made their competition debut at Nebelhorn Trophy, where they finished fifth. Haven Denney and Brandon Frazier, who will make their Grand Prix debut in Canada, were invited to the event about two weeks ago following the withdrawal of Russia's Yuko Kavaguti and Alexander Smirnov.

Ice dance
Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue go to Skate Canada fresh off a fourth-place finish at 2013 Hilton HHonors Skate America last weekend in Detroit.

The Grand Prix Series, now in its 19th season, consists of six international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Approximately 300 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the series. Each athlete is eligible to score points in up to two of the six scheduled events. The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the 2013 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, set for Dec. 5-8, in Fukuoka, Japan.

Cup of Nice
Ladies
Rachael Flatt,
the 2010 U.S. champion and a 2010 Olympian, began her season two weeks ago with a win at the 2014 Central Pacific Regional Figure Skating Championships. Kiri Baga also competed in regionals to open her season. She finished third at the 2014 New England Regional Championships. This event will mark her senior international debut.

Pairs
Jessica Noelle Calalang and Zack Sidhu
will compete internationally for the first time at the senior level. The 2013 U.S. junior silver medalists most recently finished ninth at the World Junior Championships. DeeDee Leng and Timothy LeDuc finished ninth at the 2013 U.S. Championships.

Cup of Nice is an international figure skating competition, held annually with some exceptions since 1995, for skaters at the novice, junior and senior levels.
