U.S. Figure Skating Announces Sites of 2012, 2013 Synchronized Skating Qualifying Competitions

(2/16/11) - U.S. Figure Skating has announced the sites of some of the 2012 and 2013 synchronized skating qualifying competitions, including Worcester, Mass., as the host of the 2012 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships.

In addition to being the primary selection event for the World Synchronized Skating Championships, the U.S. Synchronized Championships crowns the U.S. champions in eight levels: juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior, collegiate, adult and masters.

The 2012 event, hosted by the Skating Club of Boston, will take place March 7-10.

Recent host cities of the U.S. Synchronized Championships include Minneapolis, Minn. (2010), and Portland, Maine (2009). The 2011 event will take place March 2-5 in Ontario, Calif.

The sites of the 2012 synchronized skating sectional championships as well as two of the 2013 synchronized skating sectional championships have also been set. The 2012 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships will be held Jan. 26-28, 2012, in Hershey, Pa., and the 2012 Midwestern/Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships will be held together in Plymouth, Mich., Jan. 26-28.

Kalamazoo, Mich., will play host to the 2013 Midwestern/Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships, Jan. 23-27, 2013.

The top finishers from each of the three sections qualify for the U.S. Synchronized Championships.
