Team USA Earns Five Medals at Gardena Spring Trophy

(3/31/14) - Team USA enjoyed a strong showing last week in Selva Val Gardena, Italy, bringing home five medals across two levels from the 2014 Gardena Spring Trophy. Held annually since 1990, the event features competition for ladies and men's skaters at the novice, junior and senior levels.

Senior Men
Three-time U.S. medalist Ross Miner received 210.08 points for his efforts in Italy. The silver marks his first international medal since 2012.

Junior Ladies

The 2014 U.S. junior bronze medalist, Ashley Shin earned 143.26 points in her international debut, just 2.70 points ahead of 2012 U.S. novice bronze medalist Bradie Tennell, who totaled 140.56.

Junior Men

Making his international debut, Tony Lu, who most recently placed seventh in the junior men's event at the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, stood atop the junior podium with 166.79 points. Less than three points behind, reigning U.S. novice champion Paolo Borromeo claimed silver with 164.63.
