2014 U.S. Qualifying Season Continues this Week

(10/11/13) - The 2014 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying season continues Oct. 12-15, with the Central Pacific, Southwestern and New England regional championships. The remaining three regional championships take place next weekend, while three were contested last weekend.

More than 1,800 skaters in two disciplines (ladies and men's) will compete in five levels (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior) at the nine regional championships. The top four skaters in each discipline qualify for one of three sectional championships, which will be held Nov. 18-22. The pairs and ice dance disciplines begin their seasons at the sectional championships.

The top four finishers at the sectional championships earn a berth to the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships set for Jan. 5-12, in Boston. This year, the 2014 U.S. Championships are the final qualifying event before the 2014 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team is named.

Several members of the 2013-14 U.S. Figure Skating team envelope will compete at regional championships, including 2010 U.S. champion Rachael Flatt (Central Pacific) and 2011 U.S. champion Alissa Czisny (Eastern Great Lakes), both of whom did not compete at the 2013 U.S. Championships due to injury.

Icenetwork will provide live results for all users and on-demand video for Season Pass subscribers.
