Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt Announce Coaching Change(2/25/13) - Ice dancers Lynn Kriengkrairut and Logan Giulietti-Schmitt announced today they will commence training with Olympic and World coach Igor Shpilband in Novi, Mich. They have trained for the last seven seasons in Ann Arbor, Mich., under coaches Yasa Nechaeva and Yuri Chesnichenko.
"We will always be grateful for the seven seasons we spent with Yasa and Yuri. We appreciate all they have done for us and respect them as coaches and individuals," Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt said. "At this point, we believe we need a complete change to take our skating to the next level. We are excited for what is in store for us under Igor's tutelage and for the opportunity to have a completely different approach to our skating."
Kriengkrairut and Giulietti-Schmitt, who teamed up prior to the 2006-07 season, have represented Team USA internationally in each of their seven seasons together. They are the 2012 U.S. pewter medalists and 2007 U.S. junior bronze medalists. Their most recent campaign included a fourth-place finish at 2012 Hilton HHonors Skate America and a gold medal win at 2012 Ice Challenge before they placed fifth at the 2013 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Shpilband, a former national competitor for the Soviet Union, also coaches 2013 U.S. silver medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates.
